VMware to rule the world... Well, at least the virtual one.

In a recent move by VMware, that is in my opinion an effort to keep Microsoft away from the VMware’s core business, they have re-branded their GSX product to a freely distributed Server software. I have tried both products and I feel that Microsoft tried to buy there way into the market and that they are so far behind VMware that it is not even funny. I think that this is a strategic move to try to avoid the up and coming Xen open sourced virtualization software that is supposed to have Windows support in their future releases.

It wasn’t too long ago that I was thinking about virtualized environments and couldn’t fathom why anyone would do such a thing. I have since then opened my mind to the idea and have actually participated in the implementation of one. Now that I have a partially virtualized environment I can’t imagine going back to the old under utilized servers. It won't be long before we are all living in the Matrix....
